2009 Dog and Pony Show Video and Pics

We received a lot of great footage of this year's dog and pony show thanks to many local amateur and professional photographers. Click here to see all photographs from the event.

Also, Paul J. von Hartmann, put together his great movie of the event:

The Network was honored to contribute to the success of the Dog and Pony Show Parade this year. Board members Claudia Ellis (Brown Dog Gallery) and Joe Bravo (Jowe’s Photography), with the support of the McCloud Chamber of Commerce, did a great job of building this event to showcase the unique character of our town and bring tourists and shoppers to McCloud businesses. Attendees and participants were a good mix of locals and tourists enjoying the day, and Santa’s lap was busy once the parade was over. The Siskiyou Arts Council Arts Bus (sponsored by GottaHavaHat) and Foragers’ wreath-making workshop kept kids and adults happy, and doggie awards and biscuits were generously provided by the Robison family.

The McCloud Local First Network, an official sponsor of this great family event, provided promotion and planning assistance and used the day to launch the Shop McCloud First Holiday Shopping Contest. Network press releases and newspaper and radio ads insured that everyone in Siskiyou County knew about the Dog and Pony Show and the Holiday Shopping Contest. Handouts and flyers gave a genuine “Thank You” to folks who shop in McCloud and offered some education about how important it is to shop locally.

The Network also introduced itself to the community by hosting an information booth featuring information about the network, the value of a locally controlled economy, and the benefits of shopping locally whenever we can.

Thanks to the McCloud Watershed Council for loaning us a table for the booth! To help keep folks in town for the afternoon, the Network also served cups of delicious chili. Thanks to Robin Singler and Donna Boyd for cooking the chili and to the Mountain Star Café for donating the use of their commercial kitchen.

The success of the Dog and Pony Show Parade is a great example of the work and message of the network. When McCloud’s citizens, businesses and organizations work together for the common good, great things are possible. This type of community collaboration is the mission of the Network in action and we are proud to support McCloud through events like the Dog and Pony Show Parade.
