About Us

  We are a not-for-profit membership organization committed to creatively sustainiing and growing local businesses, ourselves as business leaders, and our community.

  Our members make a difference in our community.  They use their business practices to support the community and a healthy environment.  They provide a human face to the market place and work together at making a difference in McCloud.

  We will help promote your business and attract new customers by providing:

       * "Think Local First" public education, where the benefits to the community as a whole are made clear

       * Increasing your business' visibility through our web site, printed materials & local media relations

       * Community outreach opportunities such as the annual "Shop Local First" campaign

       * Access to a variety of business development resources and training

       * Opportunities to network and collaborate with other local businesses.

Local business owners, other non-profits organizations, and individuals who support our goals are invited to join the McCloud Local First Network.    Membership catagories are:

Business member  A locally-owned business (voting)

Non-profit member  Non-profit organization which supports the Networkk's goals (associate)

Resident member  McCloud resident who supports the Network's goald (voting)

Individual member  Any idividual who supports the Network's goals. (associate)

Our membership form is attached below.

Note: 

A business is considered local if:

A.       The business is privately held (stocks are not publicly traded)

B.       The business owners, totaling greater than 50% of the business ownership, live in or near Siskiyou County.

C.       Incorporated, if it is registered in California and corporate or national headquarters are located in Siskiyou County.

D.       The business can make independent decisions regarding the name and look of the business, as well as all business purchasing, practices and distribution.

E.       The business pays all of its marketing, rent and other business expenses (without assistance from a corporate headquarters).
