Heritage Days 2010

The McCloud Heritage Museum, sponsors of this year's Heritage Days, were pleased with the turn-out. Offered downtown on Saturday was live music - a variety of entertainers and musicians, a quilting show that filled upstairs at the Mercantile. Sharon Jackson of Castella provided a demonstration of spinning wool, the McCloud Healthcare Clinic educated about Type II diabetes and smoking cessation.

McCloud Celebrates Who We are

The McCloud community is cordially invited to attend a social gathering at the McCloud Dance Hall on May 23, 2010 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Bring your dancing shoes, photographs and pictures, and cookies to share with others. We'll furnish music (in the spirit of the "Hottentots"), non-alcoholic beverages, tables for organizations to display their literature, and a beautiful dance floor.

We hope that this gathering will bring all McCloud organizations, businesses, groups, churches, and community members together in order to get to know each other better.

At the March 1st meeting we will report on progress on our efforts to develop a trail from downtown to the Lower Falls and our Rails to Trails project. We will look for help in moving these projects along and in recruiting new members to support our efforts.

Tourism Working Group: Strategic Planning Sessions, Meetings To Continue in January

in

Thanks to a grant awarded by The Ford Family Foundation, the Tourism working group participated in a two-day process in October which identified strategies and actions that will serve the tourist-based businesses in McCloud, as well as the community at large. Rural Development Initiatives (RDI) led the process. Meadow Barr and Robin Singler served as session trainees and therefore will be able to aid other Network working groups in a similar strategic planning process.

2009 Year In Review

What a year! We started and ended McCloud Local First Network’s first year with a bang. The January community meeting saw the official formation of what is now the McCloud Local First Network and the announcement of our Business Idea Contest winners. Here we are in December, involved in an exciting “Show McCloud First” campaign.

In between those events were a number of landmarks:

March: 1st newsletter release, 1st Network public meeting AND the launch of our beautiful website! Members organized working groups and started to work.
