Working Groups Continue to Develop Projects

Rails to Trails: This group continues to work toward developing a trail on the railroad right-of-way from McCloud to Burney, as well as looking at developing shorter trails to connect hikers and bicyclists to local attractions.

Think Local First: Members are developing a plan for a fall campaign that will promote local businesses, facilitate collaboration among local businesses, and educate shoppers about the benefits of keeping dollars in McCloud.

Alternative Energy: Members are researching and designing programs that they hope will replace the street light bulbs with some that are more energy-efficient, develop a hydro-electric plant, and harvest cool or heat (depending on the season) from the earth for our large historic buildings.

Communications Platform Development: This group is developing a long-term process that they expect will bring diverse members of the community together to agree upon an “identity” for the community. This will help all of us talk to people outside the community about why they should visit… or come and set up a business here.
